Bio:
Hello, my name is Janelle. I graduated cum laude from Sam Houston State University in 2015 with a major in General Business. Since then I have worked largely in sales and while I have seen some success there, I've always remembered the one time in my life when I felt the most successful: It was when I received an 'A' in algebra. Why was that so important to me? It was because I began the class doing quite poorly – it wasn't fun and the teacher, though very intelligent and nice, just didn't seem to understand me. So I decided to work with a tutor. My tutor listened and really got to know how my mind worked. I put in the time and effort and eventually the tutor opened my eyes to an understanding I never had before and a confidence that would never leave me.

I've always been interested in helping others learn, and as a tutor I want to help others realize their short or long term educational goals and show them that learning can be life changing...and fun!

Teaching Style: I know from observation and personal experience that everyone is capable of learning and understanding concepts – sometimes we just need to be able to learn in our own way. Typically, by taking larger ideas or problems and dissecting them into smaller, more easily understood pieces, I think that students will more readily see improvement in comprehension. I would like to give students the “why” behind their studies. This will make more sense to the student and hopefully have practical applications for their lives.  I sincerely believe that every student can progress and I know my positivity and love of learning will be infectious to the students I have the pleasure of working with.

Enrichment Classes: Grade levels 3-5; Grade levels 6-8; High school, Lego Robotics, Basic Engineering, Breadboards & Circuits; Inventing; Arduino; Computer Programming; Green Energy; Crafty Circuitry; Magnets; Rube Goldberg Inventions; Prototyping
