Location: White Settlement, Texas

We are seeking passionate and driven reading & math private intervention tutors for a part- time, after school and evening tutoring position during the spring of 2018. Tutors will work several days per week in the White Settlement, Fort Worth, Stephenville, Cleburne, and/ or Alvarado area at a library or students’ home to provide small group intervention tutoring support to migrant students in math and reading.

School: Multiple schools/ locations (zip codes: 76009, 76033, 76401, 76164)
Days & Times: Varies for each position; Mondays- Thursdays approximately between the hours of 4 pm and 8 pm
Schedule: Tutorials will run until May 9th, 2019
Compensation: $25 per hour plus travel pay and planning time pay each day
Subjects: K-12 reading and math
Language: Bilingual Spanish and English preferred or basic conversational Spanish

Action Potential Learning is seeking part- time math and reading tutors in the White Settlement and surrounding area to provide help to struggling migrant students within small groups of students to provide targeted reading and math instruction, homework help, and academic support. Action Potential Learning is an intervention tutoring and enrichment education company with one goal in mind- to improve the academic success of every student. We are dedicated to supporting students by providing individualized tutoring support to students in a small group setting. We are seeking motivated and positive reading tutors that love inspiring students and wish to improve educational outcome for all students.

Your Responsibilities

As an after school, private intervention tutor, you will work with groups of students outside of the classroom to enhance instruction and improve reading and math competency. Tutors will travel to the school, library, or in some cases the student’s home and help administer tutoring sessions as needed. Each tutored group will receive approximately 1.5 hours of tutoring twice per week. We provide paid training on learning strategies, content, management strategies and pedagogy with continuous support and growth opportunities throughout the year. As a provider of school tutoring, enrichment classes, and professional development courses, we also provide the opportunity for additional job opportunities within our company throughout the year. Tutors with instructional experience in a school setting are preferred, but not required.

About The Process

Action Potential Learning has stringent hiring requirements, and successful applicants, after meeting the minimum application requirements, undergo a phone interview and teaching/ education virtual interview. All applicants also undergo training and coaching in the content area they are supporting on campus and are supported throughout the duration of the contract.

Many of our tutors interested in teaching or considering teaching as a career apply for and are accepted into teaching programs or teaching job opportunities in the area after working with us, however an interest in a teaching career is not required for this position. We value the support and development of our tutors, and in addition to ensuring students are excelling academically, we focus on improving teaching strategies and skills in tutors to ensure their own success in their future endeavors.

Applicants should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related subject OR in pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree
  • Availability in afternoon to evening
  • Strong GPA in your content area
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish, or knowledge of conversational Spanish preferred
  • Ability to pass a basic subject teaching lesson during the interview process
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting
  • Have reliable transportation and car insurance and willing to travel to Houston area school(s)
  • Professional experience, graduate degree, or tutoring/ teaching experience strongly preferred
  • Reside within Fort Worth, TX or a surrounding suburb or city
  • Willingness to travel to surrounding school districts
